Reflections
Sheila Ryan Wallace
Reflections
is a collection of poetry ranging from rhyme to unrhymed verse, from traditional to free verse, from concrete to abstract
to fantasy, from sonnets to villanelles, from clear meaning to symbolism. The book is divided into sections for easier access
and most of the poems are illustrated with photographs taken by the poet. You will find seasonal poetry, children’s,
senior citizens’, social action topics, joyful and sorrowful, whimsical, and spiritual poetry, and others; something
for everyone. It is my hope that you will enjoy and discover your own favorites among this collection.
Sheila
Ryan Wallace was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, birthplace
of her favorite poet, John Greenleaf Whittier. Her mother, Vivian Gray Ryan, also a published poet, inspired and encouraged
Sheila’s poetry interest. Sheila’s poems have been published in numerous newspapers, magazines, and anthologies.
A direct descendant of Priscilla and John Alden and of Miles Standish, (their romance recorded in poetry by New England Poet
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who also influenced her), Sheila grew up loving poetry as a lyrical expression of the heart. Drawing
upon her exciting life of travel with career military husband and family, Sheila’s first poetic collection. Reflections,
describes life in clear flowing verse and colorful abstract analogies.
